sign of the times
I’ve started this blog because basically I’m obsessed with corona virus and COVID-19.
We’re living through a significant period of history – these ‘covid times’ – and I think it’s important to document.
Our planet has kind of had a cardiac arrest *my son questioned the ‘cardiac arrest’ metaphor, maybe it’s more like ‘blown the head gasket’.* Anyway, seriously, I’m looking for some new insight or revelation from this period of dramatic and rapid change. It might sound weird, but I hope the pandemic helps shift our capitalist, consumerism focus and takes us beyond the ego-centric Age of Influence.
All that glittered on Instagram was not gold. Twitter harnessed a mob mentality and, at first, the novelty of its micro-blogging format epitomised less is more. It also drew derisive and astute comments from people like Sir Bob Geldof, “you can’t reduce the world to 140 characters”.
Covid Times will try to capture some of this dramatic period; with links to information, updates, global news and other stuff as it unfolds. Definitely not *fake news* but possibly a bit of observation about the conspiracy theories and other crazy stuff that has been making headlines.
Oh, and some of my favourite quotes.
Not many people are happy about Covid. But someone is grateful.
“It’s a blessing in disguise“.
